The Allegany Adventure Run kicks off another season of trail running in Allegany State Park on Saturday, May 8th 2010. Our Annual Trail Run features three course distances to choose from. 6K, 13K & 22K. Three separate races in one! You choose the distance that suits your soles. Pre-register or just come down on race-day to enter at the Summit Ski Lodge. There is no additional race-day/late entry fee. Custom AAR event bags to the first 200 entrants. Kickin' door prizes and raffle after the race from our great sponsors.
Post-race lunch/party at the Summit Ski Cabin- our home base for the Allegany Adventure Run.
Allegany State Park is located in Salamanca, NY off Rt. 219S and features hundreds of acres of deep forest, cabin and tent camping and several lakes/hiking trails. The Art Roscoe Trail System is a multi-use trail system suitable for XC skiing, cycling and hiking. Over 20-miles of wide, rolling trails provide a breathtaking setting for our spring trail run. A centralized start/finish area at the Summit Ski Cabin provides the perfect setting to cheer on your friends or family. Entrants are greeted to plenty of parking, post-race cookout and our awards ceremony after the race.
Course descriptions: All courses start & finish at the brown gates at the Summit Ski Cabin in the Red House section of the park, otherwise knows as the Summit Area.
6K: Clockwise around Sweetwater trail. The gentlest course of the three distances with a few short rolling hills and several flat sections.
13K: Clockwise around Sweetwater, Christian Hollow, Leonard Run and back on Ridge Run to the finish. These three loops feature many rolling hills, beautiful views of spring foliage and a soundly challenging distance that will send you home sore.
22K: Our most challenging distance featuring a clockwise course of Sweetwater, Christian Hollow, Leonard Run, down Ridge Run to the 2-mile climb of Patterson Trail to the finish. A fun, rolling and very hilly course that will put your spring training to the test.
Water Stations: Mile 1.5 on Sweetwater , Mile 4 at the Christian Hollow/Leonard Run intersection and at the lean-to area 3-miles before the finish on Ridge Run/Patterson Trail (see course map)
Entrants are encouraged to pack water/food for the long course if you are testing your endurance. Food is not supplied on the course, only water & Gatorade.

Please allot yourself enough time to get to get to the park. Please watch your speed in the park too! Police patrolled.
Lodging: Staying the weekend is a breeze. The Park has several sites within 5-minutes of our start/finish line. Cabin rentals can be booked by calling the Park at (716)354-9121. Cabins feature two rooms in most sites, fridge & heat. Fire pits and a remote setting make it a fun weekend for you and your pals or family. Hotel: Check out the Seneca Allegany Casino within 10-minutes of the Park for the lap of luxury in Salamanca. Book early for both since it's a busy time of year.
