Latest 6 Hours of Power News: Pre-Registration and packet pickup is available on Saturday evening July 26th from 6-8pm at the Mountain Sports Center: Our home base. Day of registration also available at this time. Race-day registration and packet pick up from 8-9:45am. Racers & friends-enjoy a pre-race $5.95 all you can eat spaghetti dinner at the Gin Mill right in Ellicottville. The Gin Mill is one of the most comfortable and friendly bar/restaurants in town that continues to reach out to all passers through & locals. This special is for Racers only from 5-8pm. Rip it! 6 Hours of Power 2008 rolls into Holiday Valley Ski Resort on Sunday, July 27th 2008 from 10:00am to 4:00pm. Pounding beats, centralized start/finish area, great sponsors & a vibe like few other races in the nation! 6 Hours of Power is Western New York's Endurance Mountain Bike Race of the year and is open to solo riders & two-person tag teams. Competitors vie for the most laps completed during this 6-hour time frame on our world-class 10-mile course of gnarly single track, challenging climbs, blistering connector trails and white knuckle rocky sections & downhills. Bring an EZup & set up a pit area just following our centralized start/finish area. Each lap features 1,100 feet of elevation with plenty of room to pass or put the hammer down. Our course features 65% single track, 20% double track, 15% fire road/ski connector trails. Our speedy awards ceremony after the race sends our guests on their way in time for a good nights sleep, and very tired legs. Post race raffles & door prizes as well. Post-race pasta party to all entrants. Custom 2008 event t-shirts to all pre-registered riders and as they last on race-day. Additional meals available on race-day: just order before 1pm. Rain or shine 6 Hours of Power is a ripper! 2008 will feature a few new cool changes including an open single speed class and our Kids race: 6 Minutes of Power. Those who have raced 6HOP know the ropes: Prep for a whopper of a day, those with the guts to give it a whirl we warn you-You'll be hooked for life!
Race Specifics: Registration from 8:00-9:45am at the Mountain Sports Center (former Training Center) off Holiday Valley Rd. 9:45am bikes in racks and riders assemble at the starting line. 10:00am the starting horn blows sending entrants on a 1/3-mile LeMans running start around our event grounds and back to retrieve/mount their bikes to begin the course. Team riders eagerly await the return/tag of their partners in the designated staging area and the race continues through 3:59:59pm. At 4:00pm riders are officially issued a finish time. Finish before that & you threw in the towel for a DNF. 2-water stations on our course provide necessary hydration. One tech station helps with those all so frequent repairs we rider types see under pressure at the 1/2 way mark. With your head in the game and a full-day race strategy anyone can ride into the winners circle during 6 Hours of Power! Go for it.
Classes: Solo Male or Female 18 & Under, 19-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50+ Teams: Male, Female or Co-Ed 29 & Under, 30-45, 46+ New for 2008: Open Single Speed Class for Soloists plus our Kids 6-Minutes of Power at 4:30pm just prior to dinner. Awards: Cash & Awards to our overall Solo Male, Female & top Team. Custom awards and cool prizes 3-deep in all classes. Great raffle items and something from our prize table for all class winners. There are no skill levels in 6 Hours of Power, just plain old Power! Can you do it?
Helmets mandatory for all riders. USA Cycling licenses not required. Locker room/shower facilities just 1/4 mile from our race venue (No bikes in the locker rooms please!)
Please keep all pets leased at all times around our start/finish area. Holiday Valley Ski Resort is located off Rt. 219 in Ellicottville, New York just 1-hour from Buffalo. The town of Ellicottville-just 1/2 mile from the base of the resort offers a huge variety of lodging options, great eateries, a local brewery, Ellicottville Bike Shop plus shops/fun for the entire family: A truly classic ski town. Looking to rough it? A limited number of camp sites are available right near our event start/finish line. However, no power will be supplied. First come first served basis. Bring the trailer! Plenty of parking in the lot near our venue.

Medical support provided by the Ski Patrol. Ski Patrol on-site at the Mountain Sports Center all day in the event you need medical support.
